Welcome to Down The Hall. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Down The Hall (“we,” “our,” or “us”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the “Service”).
By using Down The Hall, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the Service.
1. Who We Are

2. What Information We Collect
We collect the following information when you register and use the Service:
- Full name (registration only)
- Email address (login and notifications)
- Building address (assigns you to your building)
- Proof of residency document (reviewed by admin, then permanently deleted on approval or rejection)
- Profile photo (optional)
- Posts, comments, and messages you create
- Device push notification token
3. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used solely to operate Down The Hall: to verify residency, display your handle and photo to building residents only, send account status notifications, and enable the community feed and group chat.
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to any third party under any circumstances.
4. What Other Residents Can See
Visible to other residents: your handle, profile photo, posts, comments, and messages.
Never visible to other residents: your full name, email address, building address, or proof of residency.
5. Data Storage and Security
All data is stored on Supabase. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Proof of residency documents are stored in private, access-controlled storage accessible only to the admin. We maintain reasonable technical measures to protect your information.
6. Data Retention
- Feed posts: automatically deleted 7 days after creation.
- Comments: automatically deleted with their parent post.
- Chat messages: automatically deleted 7 days after sent.
- Group chats: automatically deleted after 14 days of inactivity.
- Proof of residency: deleted immediately on approval or rejection.
- Account data: retained until you request deletion or your account is removed by an admin.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to access your personal information, request corrections, request deletion, and know how your data is used. We do not sell your data. To exercise any of these rights, email downthehall.io@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Children’s Privacy
Down The Hall is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us immediately and we will remove it.
9. California Residents (CCPA)
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to deletion, the right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell data), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. 10. Canadian Residents (PIPEDA)
Personal information is handled in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). You have the right to access your personal information and to request corrections. Contact downthehall.io@gmail.com to make a request.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
